5 Benefits of Holistic Interior Design
Many people ask me: what’s holistic interior design?
I get so excited by the question, I wanna share so many things:
•its design that infuses energy practices like Feng Shui and color therapy
•it looks at space as a haven, a portal, a rocket ship to what you desire
•it’s a way to design so your inner world reflects your outer one
Really, what it comes down to is that it is a key component to your identity, wellness, vibrancy, and evolution. Here are a few reasons to design this way!
It invigorates.
Your home should energize you, not deplete you. It’s the place to recharge, feel safe, and rest. It’s the haven from the outside world. As you walk through your spaces, check in with how your body responds.
Is there tension, stress, irriration or a dip in mood? Those are clear signs something is off.
A holistic home pays attention to your nervous system and soothes. it.
2. It Connects.
There’s plenty out there that disconnects us from ourselves and others. With the increase in tech integration and the speed of life, it’s important to have a place that grounds. Home is a mirror of what we truly value, what brings us back to ourselves after we take off our shoes and settle in.
Whether it’s creating space for curling with a book or one that seats a table full of loved one, there’s healing in a home that encourages connection.
3. It nourishes.
Think about spaces that feel nourishing. What was it that made you feel that way? Cozy lighting? Furniture you could sink into? Colors or patterns that made you smile? Were there plants around or an inviting bowl of fruit on the counter?
There are design elements that signal to the mind: I feel good here. The trick is to find yours.
A holistic home not only feeds your body, but mind, and spirit as well.
4. It inspires.
If you feel better elsewhere than your own home, it’s a symptom of misalignment. Home is meant to be a portal for what you want more of: peace, productivity, creative spark, self-love. When these desires come through in the flow of your space or the art on your walls, you feel it...inspiration.
Your space lets you know what’s true. A good way to gauge aligned design is ask yourself when stepping into a room: if this room could speak what would it say?
5. It evolves.
As an extension of you, your home communicates your identity....it’s a vehicle for your becoming.
Does the layout of your living room serve you in the same way after 5 years?
What stories do the framed pictures tell, ones you want to keep telling?
Is there a wall color you want to try on because it is radically different and you are craving expression?
Holistic interior design looks at where you came from, where you are, and where you want to go and creates compatibly from that place.
